Snyder Stepping Down as Senior Advisor for Agriculture at EPA

(WASHINGTON D.C.)– After spending nearly three years as EPA’s Agriculture Advisor, Rod Snyder has announced he is stepping down later this week from the role. Snyder was appointed to the post at EPA by Administrator Michael Regan in October of 2021 and led the newly created Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs at EPA since March of 2024.

In a post on his LinkedIn account, Snyder said “I鈥檓 especially grateful to Administrator Regan for prioritizing engagement with ag and rural stakeholders and for creating a permanent Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to institutionalize that work into the future. It鈥檚 no secret that EPA often wrestles with challenging and complex issues that impact farmers and ranchers. However, Administrator Regan committed from the outset that we would forge a partnership with rural America that is practical, science-based, and collaborative and that we would take time to listen before we act. I believe we鈥檝e made good on that promise in a way that sets a precedent for future administrations.”

National Council of Farmer Cooperatives President Chuck Conner issued the following statement saying “Throughout his career, Rod Snyder has worked at the intersection of agriculture, environmental, conservation, and sustainability issues in an unprecedented way. All the while, he has brought common sense and a collaborative attitude and has first and foremost always been a champion of America鈥檚 farmers, ranchers, and co-ops. At the EPA, Rod was a valuable resource not just for the agency, but for those of us in agriculture, including NCFC, when it came to navigating a number of sensitive issues. We wish Rod well in his new endeavors and look forward the possibility of working with him in the future.鈥

House Ag Ranking Member David Scott of Georgia issued the following statement about Snyder’s departure saying 鈥淔or nearly two decades, Rob Snyder has kept the farmer鈥檚 voice at the table. Whether as the head of Field to Market or at the National Corn Growers Association, or in his role as Senior Advisor for Agriculture at the Environmental Protection Agency, Rob has been a consistent champion for our farmers. I thank him for his service to American agriculture and the hardworking people who make it the envy of the world.鈥

Snyder previously spent time with Field to Market, National Corn Growers Association, CropLife America and others. You can view Snyder’s full post on LinkedIn below:
